Homeless man on LIE is NOT HOMELESS! (jpeter7 05/09/06 5:20pm)

The guy that people see and pretends to be a bit unstable standing off the LIE exit going east on exit 61. Has been doing this since I first saw him in 1994. That is the year he first came here. Yes, I too was a sucker and gave him food, the Exxon station offered him a job then too and we all found out he was far from homeless!! Since hearing of the corruption of donations that were given to the Katrina Fund, and many other relief funds and our own Goverment and Officials were the ones screwing us all. I feel I have to finally say something now that I have seen him back doing this. People always want to help other people in need but once someone finds out they are getting conned, the next time someone really is hurting no one will help so if I can stop him from conning others since its immpossible for many of us from stopping our Goverment from doing it. Then its worth this post. Many Blessings to Everyone that gives with their heart. Jen (jpeter7 05/09/06 5:20pm) REPLY
I think we're missing the main point here. There comes a point where the problem isn't the guy on the street anymore. The problem (after 12 years) is the fact that nothing has been done about it; well nothing big enought to change anything. Therefore, i have two questions: If the guy is a con artist, why is he still taking people's money? If the guy isn't a con artist in the sense that he actually has a mental disability and therefore cannot hold a real job, finds comfort or happiness soliciting himself on the street for another reason besides the money, or really just doesn't know better... why hasn't anyone helped him? why is he not on medication or in some type of hospital? Either way, its bad enough for this guy to be around but its worse that nothings been done. I'm not sure what part of government is suppossed to take care of this but which ever it is, they're lacking... and i'm not voting for them next term lol. Sincerely me (mindie5 07/26/06 8:00pm) REPLY
This is a disgrace! When I give people directions to my home - I am actually embarrassed to see this fake. I would gladly help the homeless but I too know he is not homeless. Can't the police dept stop this? (SPONSOR 05/17/06 12:34pm) REPLY
Sorry one other thing.....He doesn't NEED to ask for anything he just does his act and since he is at a prime location people just hand him money and also don't forget his "sign". (jpeter7 07/09/06 11:05am) REPLY
I am curious how you know he isnt homeless. I feel bad for the guy but never gave him anything. If he isnt homeless, then he must have a mental disability because I have seen him out there in sub freezing weather real late at night. Where does he live? Just because he isnt homeless doesnt mean he makes enough money to get by. I am sure that there are con artists out there but this guy has been at it for over 10 years. I dont see how any normal person would put himself out there. Why would someone do that? I'm sure he isnt an executive at the bank or anything. What I feel bad about is I never see him ask for anything. As a matter of fact, he never looks me in the eye. He definitely needs help, mental more than financial. (Kidlit 06/15/06 12:01am) REPLY
How do I know?? He came here in 1994 and back then Exxon offered him a job believing his sign. I myself after seeing him for a month back then bought him food. I caught up to him after he "got off of work" and believe me that dude can walk and his attitude changes soon as he hops off that side of the LIE and crosses the bridge to go to his car. Also when I parked at that time at Exxon and went to give him the food the Gas attendent yelled out that the guy didn't want the job. Also I have family that has a history of mental illness believe me this dude has been "here" at that area ESPECIALLY when tourist season and warm weather begins. If that is not enough go view him when he "leaves" his work area. You will just how STEADY he really is on his feet!!! Many Blessings, J (jpeter7 07/09/06 11:04am) REPLY
hi, seen this guy on the south service road on the L.I.E. for years, makes a few bucks and runs down to OTB (sfshortstuff 09/13/06 10:23pm) REPLY
He gets mad when you give food, not money. He lives in Nesconset and parks at the park and ride. He has been seen cleaned up - real nice - at the movies. Don't know about the rest of you, but we can't afford the movies anymore, how can a supposed homeless man????? Wake up and give your money to someone who really needs it, there are plenty of real homeless and hungry people on the Island!! (SPONSOR 12/06/06 10:16pm) REPLY
I think it's just as sad that you have nothing better to do than to post this garbage. Instead of posting it here call the police next time you see him. If he's really a con they'll take care of it. Unless you have some actual proof of who he is and how much money he's "raking" in, it's probably better if you spend your time helping people who ARE homeless and in much worse shape than you. You live in Holbrook and post in your free time on the net, so obviously life has been good to you. Why don't you spread put some positive energy out into the world instead of this? spend time posting on this site ,ya after my wife and I work our 40 hour jobs so what, and that guy is a fake I see him in the bagel store cleaned up every Sunday and Holbrook is not Rodeo DR so take it easy with the you live in Holbrook because this is a blue coller area (RobinS 11/10/07 10:37pm) REPLY
