I live on coates ave. I can not believe the amount of speeding and wreckless driving. The Motorcycles are out of control. In the winter I see ATV\'s going up and down the street all night. I\'ve called the police and no one ever shows up. The police told me that if more people complained there would be more patrols in the area. Not to mention the strange vehichles that drive up and down Coates and Grundy in the wee hours of the morning scoping out houses and cars to rob. There also is a big drug problem in holbrook. One cop told me there is a lot of drug dealing in the area. I hear the drug honks (2 honks) all the time. I never see police patrol this area except for the day time hours. My wife and I just moved here 3 years ago and we are already looking to move out of holbrook. (clrelf214 09/12/07 10:25am) REPLY

I agree with you regarding the lack of police patrols in the evening. More residents should call the police if they notice suspicious activity. Meanwhile one must arm themselves with a house alarm, Surveillance equipment & a perhaps a neigborhood watch program. Let these individuals know that we are watching them. A good wacthdog cant hurt. Thats is not the newest I am here 16yrs and its been going on in Parkland ever since. The problem is definitly NOT enough patroling. I think that it is the right time to complain i believe elections are right around the corner. Also Parkland needs to fix all the street lighting problems. I have gone down to the 5th precinct on waverly ave in patchogue to complain. The officers were very interested in what I had to say and wrote everything down. I did see more patrols that week as a result, but it was never late at night. I was told that when more people complain more patrols will be placed in that area. The officer told me they would love to hear more from the community, that\'s the only way they will know where the problems are. Just this month a man was attacked and robbed on grundy ave. The month before a teen was robbed on grundy ave. I believe there is a lot of drug dealing in this town. I\'m not just talking about the kid shot and killed on patch/holbrook rd. after a drug deal gone bad, but the amount of cars I see EVERY night packed with people driving around ALL hours of the night and sitting on these dark streets. When I was younger I enjoyed partying with friends, but on a tuesday night at 3:00 a.m. sitting in a parked car? Middle class kids are becoming thugs in this town. The house are beautiful, the people I meet are wonderful...What\'s up..?! People, please complain to the 5th precinct. (clrelf214 10/15/07 7:19am) REPLY
