Keeping our community clean. (strwestlr 04/22/09 9:41am)
Like many of us, I drive daily on the neighborhood streets and oftentimes notice way too much (any is too much really) littering, especially around the areas by sumps or other town controlled property. Who do we engage to clean it up and also, does anyone know if community orgs or groups that participate/coordinate periodic clean-ups that one could take part in? (strwestlr 04/22/09 9:41am) REPLY
Call the town of Islip & state your concern. They may be able to direct you. Occasionally , you will see volunteers out on a Saturday morning, these groups are usually boy scouts or things of that nature. I would contact the Suffolk County Department of public works as well, just be Persistent & good Luck.

3rd Annual Holbrook Clean-Up
Saturday, May 02, 2009
Sponsored by Leg. Bill Lindsay and the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce. If you are a business owner or a resident, we are encouraging you to get out and make a difference.
Last year\'s clean-up gave our town a great transfiguration. Meet at Seneca Middle School at 9:30am. If you have rakes and gloves, bring them. Everything else will be provided, from bags to reflective vests for your safety. (Scott Nasson 04/29/09 8:38pm) REPLY
The community has gone south since home prices dropped. What I thought was a nice community isnt so nice and before we clean up the streets people should take the bed sheets out of their windows and buy curtains and maybe some paint if they cant afford vinyl siding for their home.
